About the role
The Laboratory Scientist plays a key role in performing diagnostic tests across haematology, microbiology, biochemistry and other laboratory disciplines. The role supports timely and accurate diagnosis for PMGH patients.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct diagnostic laboratory tests with accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure proper sample collection, handling and storage procedures.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Perform quality assurance checks and follow safety protocols.
- Collaborate with clinicians, nurses and other health professionals.
Essential requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
- Registration with the appropriate PNG regulatory authority.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, safety and quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Desirable
- Experience working in a busy hospital laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with digital laboratory information systems.
