Overview

Port Moresby General Hospital provides a wide range of general, specialist and emergency healthcare services for patients from Port Moresby, surrounding provinces and referrals from across Papua New Guinea.

Emergency services

PMGH operates one of the busiest emergency departments in the Pacific region. It provides urgent care for trauma, acute illness, maternal emergencies and paediatric emergencies.

Training & education

PMGH is the main teaching hospital for the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) School of Medicine & Health Sciences. Students from medicine, nursing, midwifery and allied health regularly rotate through clinical departments.

Referral process

Patients may be referred from urban clinics, health centres, provincial hospitals or private providers. For urgent or emergency referrals, please contact the Emergency Department directly.
