Our role
Port Moresby General Hospital (PMGH) is Papua New Guinea’s national referral and teaching hospital. Located in Korobosea, NCD, PMGH provides tertiary care, advanced diagnostics, specialist services and clinical training for doctors, nurses and health professionals.
As the country’s largest public hospital, PMGH receives patients from:
- National Capital District (NCD)
- Central Province
- Gulf Province
- Other provinces referred for specialist care
Teaching & training
PMGH is the primary teaching hospital for the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) School of Medicine & Health Sciences. The hospital supports:
- Medical student clinical rotations
- Nursing and midwifery training
- Postgraduate medical training programs
- Allied health training placements
