ICU and Mortuary Redevelopment Project
PMGH is progressing the redevelopment of the Intensive Care Unit and mortuary facilities. The upgrade will expand capacity, improve infection control, and create a more dignified and comfortable environment for patients and families. Construction works are ongoing.
Expansion of Teaching & Training Programs
As PNG’s national teaching hospital, PMGH continues to strengthen collaboration with the University of Papua New Guinea's School of Medicine & Health Sciences. New clinical placement opportunities and postgraduate pathways are being supported across departments.
Upgrades to Patient & Visitor Facilities
Improvements to wards, outpatient areas, public seating, and access routes are underway. These upgrades aim to enhance comfort, safety, and accessibility for patients and visitors.
Support for Community Blood Donation Initiatives
PMGH continues to participate in and support community blood drives. The blood bank encourages groups, businesses and organisations to take part in scheduled donation activities to support life-saving transfusion needs.
Infection Prevention & Mask Guidance
Visitors are encouraged to follow current infection control guidance. Masks may be recommended in some clinical areas to protect immunocompromised patients.
