About the role
The Registered Nurse – General Wards provides high-quality patient care in PMGH’s medical and surgical wards. The role includes direct clinical care, patient education, coordination of care and support for students and junior staff.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care for inpatients.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Monitor patient progress and escalate concerns to senior clinicians.
- Participate in ward rounds, handovers and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Support education and supervision of students and new staff.
Essential requirements
- Registered Nurse qualification recognised in Papua New Guinea.
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of PNG (or eligibility to obtain).
- Recent clinical experience in acute care settings.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Commitment to patient safety and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Experience in medical, surgical or high-dependency care.
- Experience working in a teaching or referral hospital.
